FAQS

WHAT ARE WAIST BEADS?

Waist beads are a piece of jewelry that is worn on the belly, waist, or hip area. These pieces, originating in Africa, are traditionally worn by women as a symbol of waist size, beauty, sexual sensations, femininity, fertility, well-being, and maturity.

HOW DO I KNOW WHAT SIZE TO CHOOSE?

You should measure yourself with a soft tape measure.

Our strands come in 47 inches or 60 inches. If you measure longer, please leave a note at checkout. We will create a longer strand at no charge.

Example: If you measure 35 inches around you should tie at least 2-3 sizes up allowing for possible weight gain or bloating. Your strands should never be tied tight.

WHAT IS DIFFERENCE BETWEEN TIE ON AND CLASP?

Tie-on strands are considered permanent, and a clasp closure can be removed. We recommend our tie-on option for those of you who do not plan to remove your strands as well as those of you on a weight loss journey. For those ordering our more “high end” strands we recommend our clasp option to preserve the beads.

WHAT MATERIALS ARE USED TO CREATE EACH STRAND?

We recently made the switch from cotton to nylon to polyester thread (a little trial and error). Most of our beads are made of glass seed beads. Our more decorative beads are made from materials such as plastic, vinyl, wood, clay, etc.

HOW DO WAIST BEADS HELP WITH WEIGHT LOSS?

Waist beads are a non-scale tool used to gauge weight gain or loss. In our opinion there is nothing like waking up in the morning to find your waist beads have fallen.

WHAT IF MY STRAND(S) BECOME TOO LOOSE?

As long as there is enough room you can cut your strand at the knot, remove excess beads, re-tie, and cut excess thread.

WHERE DOES RH WAISTED WAIST BEADS SHIP FROM?

Our waist beads are both handmade and shipped from Little Elm, Texas. Little Elm is located in North Texas between Frisco and Denton.

HOW MANY STRANDS SHOULD I WEAR?

The choice is yours. You need no permission. We’ve seen people wear anywhere from 3-30 strands. BE YOU. DO YOU.

WHAT IF MY STRAND(s) BREAK?

We have worked hard to provide our customers with high quality strands, and we hope you never experience your strands breaking; however, all sales are final and will not be replaced for any reason other than defects in craftsmanship.

Based on feedback we have not had any reports of our polyester strands breaking. They have either come untied due to being tied improperly, have “popped” due to being tied too tight, or pulled by the customer.

Please note -- waist beads are not meant to be tied tight in an effort to force them to stay in place. Our weight fluctuates daily, and we must allow room for this truth.

Remember to handle your strands with care, be conscious of them, and be gentle.

ARE MY STRANDS SUPPOSED TO PINCH ME?

Absolutely NOT! If your strands are pinching your skin at all, they are too tight, and should be removed immediately.
